New Kitchen for Anthony’s Restaurant

BETTAquip Foodservice Solutions is to design and install a new state-of-the-art kitchen at the award winning Anthony’s restaurant in Leeds.

Chef Tony Flinn worked with the renowned Ferran Adriá at El Bulli in Spain before teaming up with his father, sister and girlfriend in 2004 to create his own taste sensations at the family run restaurant. Named the ‘Best New Restaurant of 2004’ at the Restaurant Remy Awards, with Tony receiving the ‘Remy Prize of Excellence’, the business has gone on to win the Yorkshire Evening Post’s ‘Restaurant of the Year’ 2004, ‘Best Restaurant’ category in the Observer Food Monthly Awards for 2005 and accolades from food writers throughout this country and overseas.

‘We provided start-up finance ourselves and opened with the minimum of overheads to give us time to prove the acceptance of the menu to the customer base in Leeds, that meant having to use the existing kitchen when we opened’, explains Tony’s father and the business manager, also named Anthony Flinn. With the business firmly established chef Tony can now work in a kitchen of his own choosing.

‘The kitchen is fairly small and located in the basement with a miss-match of equipment that is unpleasant to work with’, continues Anthony senior. ‘We want eco friendly equipment that is fuel efficient and does not push out waste heat and fumes into the working atmosphere. We chose the BETTAquip design because it was based on a complete kitchen of Electrolux equipment that is designed to suite together and offers all the cooking functions we need, including the induction tops that Tony used in the El Bulli kitchen. Induction tops only operate when a pan is placed on them, unlike gas burners that tend to be left on all the time.’
