Loughborough College

As part of the ongoing refurbishments at Loughborough College a new student refectory and kitchen has recently been installed by Bettaquip.
Kitchens for SchoolsThe College is undertaking an extensive redevelopment, which will ultimately see the whole campus rebuilt.  The first phase of this ambitious programme has recently seen the Radmoor Centre completed with phased opening of the facilities which will include a purpose built sports hall; a new training restaurant with high spec kitchens; a suite of salons for hair, beauty and complementary therapy treatments. As part of the £11 million project a second building designed as a ‘Technology Centre’ is planned with workshops for engineering and electrical installation. Both buildings will feature teaching/learning spaces, demonstration areas and office accommodation. For building work to start the old student refectory had to be demolished and resited in the area that used to accommodate the old training kitchens. The new refectory has been turned into a spacious and modern venue meeting the food needs of up to 500 students from 8am through to 8pm every day.

Kitchens for SchoolsThe wide variety of courses offered by the college, ranging from sports science and health and beauty to engineering studies means the refectory has to meet the needs of very diverse groups of students. They each expect different things from a meal so the college has to offer a very wide variety of meals.

Bettaquip designed the kitchen and serveries to meet these needs. Primary cooking takes place on a suite of modular Electrolux cooking equipment supported by combi ovens and extensive food preparation areas. Extraction equipment keeps the atmosphere cool and clear of products of combustion with an interlock system ensuring safe working conditions for the staff.
